It is not an accident that the biggest anti-Tory victory since 1979. against the poll tax. was achieved by a popular mesement complately certsade of the offiunofficial strikes is the worst.

This law is now being used against the Post Office union (UCW) in Liverpool where its members refused to cross an NCU picket line after two NCU members were victimised. Ten UCW branch officers have now been suspended and the UCW taken to the High Court by Post Office liable to dismissal by the employer without any appeal or recourse to an industrial tribunal or compensation for wrongful dismissal...

'Any union member who responds to a request to take part in industrial action which was not authorised by the Executive Council in a secret ballot renders themselves liable to dismissal by April.

Representatives of current struggles from the Liverpool Post Office to the London Underground will be there. A big and representative conference could make a real contribution to the fight to defeat the anti-union laws.
