"My name is Graham Morris and I am from St Helens. I was happy to take part in the Euromarch - I marched all the way from Preston to Amsterdam. I wanted to protest about the large number of people unemployed. "The rough estimate is that there are 5 million unemployed in Britain and 20 million across Europe. What we need is full employment across Europe. "There were 30 marches from 17 different countries taking part in the long trip to Amsterdam for the Intergovernmental conference on June 14. "About 50,000 people protested against the single currency and for full employment. We were opposing the massive poverty that exists and demonstrating in defence of the welfare state.
