So reads the entry for Mark Thatcher in the 1993 Sunday Times ranking of the super-rich. The truth is somewhat more complex: Mark Thatcher made his fortune as a go-between in the global death trade, playing on the family name to amass a fortune.

Tam Dayell, Labour MPs for Linlithgow, claimed in 1992 that Thatcher junior was "up to his neck" in arms deals with Iraq.

It has been established that on December 14 1992 Mark Thatcher's 11 Swiss bank accounts at three separate financial institutions added up to 93.142.139 francs (£41,581,312).

Mark Thatcher, it has been claimed, was involved in deals including the supply of 48 Chieftain tanks to Pinochet's regime in Chile in 1983; light arnations of which it disapproves. This category included Mark Thatcher, and only the fact that his mother was serving prime minister stayed Mossad's hand.

Yitzak Shamir, the Israeli prime minister, wrote to Margaret Thatcher officially, expressing his disapproval at the involvement of unnamed "British nationals" in supplying Iraq, an obvious potential enemy. He was clearly referring to her son.
