SOCIALIST Outlook supporter and expelled Lambeth councillor Greg Tucker, along with two other expelled councillors, has been reported to the police by Lambeth Council - for voting at the Council's budget setting meeting.

Under the provision of the 1992 Local Government and Finance Act councillors are forbidden to vote on Council tax matters whilst in poll tax arrears.

Tucker and two other expelled councillors, who have made no secret of their poll tax non-payment, have always voted against cuts budgets and played an important part in the campaign to defeat the poll tax.

£1,000 fine Now this stand has resulted in them being reported to the police and they face the possiblity of prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.

This legislation is an attack on the democratic rights of the electorate. People who voted for Tucker, Webb and Hollifield have the right to be represented by them regardless of their poll tax arrears.
