Burton, the well-known High Street clothing group currently pushing through a mass redundancy programme. is to pay out £250,000 in deferred bonuses to a couple of former chief executives. in return for doing absolutely no work whatsoever. Hey, way to go!

The beneficiaries are Sir Raiph "five-times-a-Knight" Halpem, who's copious copulation with a leading topless model made tabloid headlines before his resignation in 1990, and Lawrence Cooklin, his successor, who lasted just 15 It's not as if either is exactly skint.
