Greek workers in 24-hour General Strike

ATHENS came to a standstill during a 24-hour general strike against a third year of public sector wage cuts from the rightwing New Democracy Party last Thursday.

The protest was called by the milion. strong General Confederation of Greek Page 12 April, 1993 No. 40 Workers, the country's biggest union contro.

Sectors participating Included transport workore. dockers. posta workers. teachers and health workers, and staff at Olympic Airways. The key demand is for a 17 per cent wage increase.
