AN ILL-INFORMED and sectarian letter appeared in the last issue of Outlooktwo months after the defeat of the RMT on the Underground.

Its author, who doesn't work on the Underground, claims new realism has come to the pages of Socialist Outiook and that we covered up for the role of MT bureaucracy. It is therefore rathe trange to claim that the bureaucracy the same error as others on the left without active upporter on the activists and representatives themto pass the buck to the mit tants on the District Council. It is more accurate to say that the bureaucracy totally failed the membership than that they sold us they refused to allow the strike to be postponed rather than call off This undoubtedly let ASLEF off the hook, but it made little difference to the outcome for two reasons.
