ecause space is so vast hen we look into the depths of the universe we effectively look back in time. The light which reaches us from the edge of the observabie universe started its journey towards us when the universe was only about 300,000 years old.

The problem is that although universe was clouded in 'fog': when the fog lifted it would have been possible to 'see for miles' as it were.

At that point the temperature of the universe was about 3000 degrees. As it continued to expand this temperature gradually went down. Now the overal temperature 1s arouna C-270 degrees; only three No. 23 'existed" before the Big Bang?
