The company boss sacked all the workers who joined the union. Since the start of the lock-out they have organised a brilliant campaign. Throughout the dispute the T&G leadership have offered pitiful support for their struggle.

After the tribunal ruled in their favour the workers believed that they had won their demands. On their retum to work they were instructed to sign new contracts that enshrined some of the worst practices from before the dispute including no union recognition, no overtime pay and pay differentials—the TGWU leadership advised the workers to sign.
