· Fight the Alton Bill: Abortion and Women's Liberation, December 1987 · p 17 (scan page) · 275 words

...........belleves 1. The attempt by MP David Alton to reduce the upper time 11mit for abortion from 28 weeks to 18 weeks will force at least 6,000 women every year to continue with a pregnancy they do not want. 2. A reduction in the time limit will particularly affect young women who make up over half of the British women who have late abortions.

3. That the lack of decent NHS facilitles mean that 1 out of every 5 women who have late abortions inftlally saw their doctors before 12 weeks of pregnancy.

4. That older women who misread the signs of pregnancy for the menopause will be forced to continue with the pregnancy, even 1f It puts their health at risk.

5. That women who discover that the fetus they are carrying is abnormal will have no choice about whether they want to continue with the pregnancy.

6. That a genuine attempt to reduce the numbers of late abortions would address the causes of late abortion and aim to reduce the need, rather than merely ban late abortions. ...resolves 1. To campaign against the Alton BIll To sponsor the Fight Alton's Bill FAB) Campaign and send f as a donation.

3. To publicise and mobilise for FAB's local and national activities.
